Teran Wine and Prosciutto Festival – Dutovlje, Western Slovenia

Terano Wine and Prosciutto are well regarded culinary companions of Slovenian Karst, and they are celebrated during the two days of Festival in Dutovlje.
The festival boasts eventful program which includes art exhibitions, presentation of the best Teran wines, tastings, hiking and even guided tours of the prosciutto manufacture.
Prosciutto from the Slovenian Karst region is due to its uniqueness protected with EU designation of origin label. The recipe itself is surprisingly simple – its sole ingredients are meat, salt and plenty of time. The salted meat is exposed to fresh air and northern wind burja. Teran wine is another superb product of the region. Teran is red grape variety, grown on red soil – terra rossa. Wine is a dark red/purple, medium to full-bodied wine and due to its rich content of iron, minerals and antioxidants praised for its medical properties.
