Coffee Festival Slovenia – Celje – Eastern Slovenia

Coffee Festival Slovenia is a lively event, filled with discussions, tastings, workshops and expert lectures. Festival is hosting some large coffee brands and boutique coffee roasters and is gaining popularity – in 2017 the number of visitors exceeded 20.000. Coffee has been traditionally a very important part of the gastronomy in Slovenia. Neighboured with Italy, its influence in the coffee culture has always been strong. Another significant impact came from the south. From the Ottoman’s wars in Europe, Turkish coffee has remained hugely popular in countries like Bosnia and Serbia, and also in Slovenia. Turkish coffee is usually enjoyed at homes., and it is not often found in bars and restaurants.

Slovenians are big coffee drinkers, As per  2017  article from UK’s Telegraph, Slovenia holds a very solid 14th place in coffee consumption per capita.
